As the founder of HMG, Richie's unique background as a former member of UK Special Forces and Royal Marine has undoubtedly influenced the brand's ethos. With over 12 years of military service -3 in the Royal Marines and 9 the SBS - Richie's passion for creating a brand that reflects the harsh sentiments of combat and remembrance through the eyes of those who entered the arena of armed conflict is evident.
From being subject to Taliban ambushes as a young Marine and conducting kill/capture operations as a member of the SBS; to holding friend’s as they died and witnessing friends killed and wounded from machine-gun fire at close range - the emotional trauma endured over the subsequent years became the driving force to establish a brand that represents the horror and misery war can bring. His mission: "To shine a light on the darkness of war, keeping the voices of those who
fought at the forefront of remembrance."
Despite the challenges of starting a business while serving in Special Forces, Richie managed to set up a website, print T-shirts, and establish a strong social media presence. In addition, his father and fiancée helped dispatch orders while he was away on Ops.
Having been running since 2018, Richie remains grateful to all those who have followed and supported HMG along the way. From all services within British Armed Forces to veterans and civilians who appreciate the unique sentiment of the brand, Richie is proud to have created a company that honours the sacrifices made by those who served in the military.
“For those who served. For those who continue to serve.”
